Senior 3D Environment Artist
Own high-quality 3D environment models, PBR textures and materials, engine-facing asset optimization, and outsourced environment asset quality control.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed sculpts and low-poly topology for high-quality in-game 3D environment models.
- Based on a PBR pipeline, independently produce high-quality textures and material presentation, ensuring final visuals match the project art style.
- Communicate closely with the Art Director, concept designers, and upstream / downstream disciplines to understand concept intent accurately and deliver iteration goals on time and at quality.
- Work with level design and technical art to define and execute environment asset standards, including polygon reduction, UV layout, LOD creation, and Draw Call optimization, ensuring smooth performance on target platforms.
- Own quality control for outsourced 3D environment assets. Participate in defining outsourcing production specs and technical standards, provide mid-production feedback, and review final assets.
Requirements
- 3+ years of 3D environment modeling experience; full-cycle experience on medium-to-large 3D games, especially console titles, is preferred.
- Proficient with Maya / 3ds Max / Blender (expertise in at least one), ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and other mainstream production tools.
- Familiar with mainstream game engines, with working knowledge of material systems, light baking, and basic rendering pipelines.
- Solid art fundamentals, with strong sensitivity to spatial volume, color composition, architectural structure, and the plausibility of world-building materials.
- Passionate about games, imaginative, and familiar with a broad range of ACG works.
- Strong communication, analytical, and creative skills; able to understand production needs accurately and deliver efficiently.
